On October 19, 2026, AWS published a technical guide to TwelveLabs Pegasus 1.5 in Amazon Bedrock. Availability had been announced earlier, on October 9. The new article demonstrates analysis of video up to two hours long and user-defined segments returned as JSON with start and end times. This is a new explanation of an existing capability, rather than an October 19 product premiere.
A moment in a video is a separate unit
Our example is an editorial archive containing long interviews. An editor may need all passages discussing a particular subject rather than a summary of the whole conversation. The useful result would then be a list of inspectable excerpts. This is a proposed workflow, not an evaluation of Pegasus against an actual SIExpo archive.
In that workflow, a description such as discussion of deliveries needs explicit criteria. A single mention of the word is different from a complete answer about the subject. Without a definition, two outputs may appear inconsistent while the team has not established which behavior is correct. We recommend retaining the segment definition alongside every extraction so that later corrections can be interpreted against the original request.
The official Bedrock guide distinguishes the video-to-text Pegasus models from Marengo embedding models. It describes Pegasus 1.5 processing video directly without pre-indexing. That distinction helps plan a workflow: producing a description or metadata is a different operation from building a vector representation for retrieval.
Count omissions as well as discoveries
For the editorial example, we propose a human-annotated sample containing passages with and without the target subject. A comparison should count false inclusions and missed relevant segments. Demonstrating one correctly located moment does not establish how many other moments were overlooked. The sample and criteria should remain unchanged when comparing configurations.
Temporal boundaries also matter. Before deciding to use an excerpt, the editor should be able to inspect the context immediately before and after it. Removing a question or a later qualification can change the meaning even when the selected frame is relevant. That is our editorial reason for using automatic markers as review assistance, rather than treating a returned timestamp as a completed publishing decision.
A deployment assessment should check the particular region, permissions and request route. The location of the input file alone does not establish where processing takes place. We make no promise of compliance with a particular data-residency arrangement on the basis of this tutorial. An organization needs to evaluate its own configured route and requirements.
The new guide makes the capability more concrete for developers. Its practical value remains the time saved by an inspectable segment list after corrections and omissions have been accounted for. Preserving the original video and the selection criteria would allow that benefit to be evaluated without confusing the date of a tutorial with the date a service became available.
