On October 11, 2026, Elon Musk posted on X that Grok Bot can research the best prices and purchase on a user's behalf. We checked the text through X's public embed. This confirms what Musk stated; it is not an independent test of purchase quality or of finding the lowest possible price.
Fresh attention to an existing feature
The official @bot account announced online purchasing on August 28. That post describes connecting Link so the agent can complete purchases for the user. October's statement should therefore not be presented as the original launch date.
A separate August post describes approval for each spend request and a single-use card, alongside availability in the United States at that time. This is the historical launch description. It does not automatically establish current availability in every country or at every merchant.
Our editorial interpretation is that the discussion is moving from recommendation to action. A list of possible purchases is information. An order creates specific obligations and a delivery expectation. Whether an agent “can buy” consequently has several meanings: technical ability, authorization, and actual completion of the order.
What the payment process authorizes
Link's current FAQ describes a request for a maximum amount, biometric approval, and a single-use card. It emphasizes that approving an amount does not guarantee selection of the correct product. Agent Wallet eligibility is listed for accounts created in the United States and Canada. This is a payment-service condition, not a general certification of every Grok Bot capability.
In our hypothetical example, someone seeks headphones of an exact model. The agent might find a cheaper offer with a similar name but a different version. Authorizing the overall amount does not correct that mismatch. A useful review should compare the selected item with the original task before treating the purchase as successful.
Agent settings also determine control
Grok Bot's documentation recommends explicit boundaries for purchases and financial transfers. It describes ask rules, automatic allowances, and administrative restrictions. Approval controls a proposed action but does not undo work already performed. This should not become an assumption that every possible purchase is blocked identically under every configuration.
The official Grok Bot 101 guide describes an agent with a persistent cloud computer that can work in applications and a browser. It also notes that sessions available to one bot can be available to other bots on the same computer. A different assistant name is not a separate boundary around an already-open account.
The practical question is which access actually exists in that environment. In our example, an offer-comparison assistant does not necessarily need every workplace service a person uses. The assessment should follow the specific task. SIExpo has not connected an account or payment method and has not placed a test order.
An order and a payment leave different records
Link's purchase-support guide directs return enquiries to the merchant and notes that the merchant's conditions continue to apply. Link shows transactions but does not necessarily hold order details. Confirmation may have gone to a different email address used by the agent during checkout.
In our example, that is a reason to check the recorded transaction separately from the confirmed order. The bot conversation can provide useful context but should not replace merchant information. Repeating a request before establishing what completed can also make individual attempts harder to distinguish.
What remains untested
We are not publishing our own estimates of money saved, accuracy, or successful-purchase rates. A best-price claim requires a comparable set of offers, costs, and a defined checking time. One public post supplies no such measurement.
The story matters as an example of the direction toward personal agents that act. What we verified here is the statement and the publicly described mechanisms. Usefulness for an individual depends on permissions, availability, and the actually completed task. We do not promise functioning payment access for readers in Bulgaria on the strength of someone else's public example.
