NVIDIA announced on 16 October 2026 that RTX Spark laptops were available from partners including ASUS, Dell, HP, Lenovo, Microsoft and MSI. The company lists configurations with up to 128 GB of unified memory and up to one petaflop of FP4 AI performance. This is a product launch; the figures are manufacturer specifications, not measurements from an independent SIExpo test.

For AI development, the more useful question is what can run on the computer itself. Sharing a memory resource between compute components changes how a local model is provisioned. Large memory does not, however, promise a particular response speed: weights, working context and other software must fit and receive sufficient bandwidth.

Software is part of the launch

In a separate technical article published the same day, NVIDIA describes an expanded Windows on Arm environment with PyTorch-CUDA, Python 3.15 and more than 2,000 ready-to-use Conda packages. It discusses Windows or WSL development and local coding agents. This is the company's account of its stack, not automatic compatibility for every existing application or extension.

The public NVIDIA Skills repository adds instructions for agents to use tools. Instructions and execution are separate: an agent still needs suitable libraries, correct versions and permission to perform the requested actions. We did not install that package or measure its speed during this editorial check.

Evaluating the local option

Our editorial interpretation is that the practical change should be measured against a concrete task. A team could, for example, compare the same set of small programming changes using a local model and its existing environment. Useful measures would include passing tests, time to an accepted result and the human corrections required. This is an evaluation proposal, not a benchmark we conducted.

Peak FP4 compute describes a particular arithmetic format. It does not directly measure how many useful changes an agent will finish per hour. Similarly, running the model locally does not make an entire workflow offline: tools may retrieve external code, call network services or fall back to a cloud model. Privacy depends on the actual route taken by every part of the task.

Before deployment, users need to check their own dependencies, memory requirements and behaviour under sustained load. Availability of a particular configuration in Bulgaria was not established by this check. The news is the stated platform's arrival on the market. Its value for an individual team will depend on the software and work it can actually move onto the machine, with a repeatable result rather than a specification alone.
