The expanded agreement
On 6 October, OpenAI and Atlassian announced an expanded partnership. According to the announcement, OpenAI models will support agents across Atlassian's platform and Rovo. Teamwork Graph provides organizational context by connecting people, projects, documents and decisions. This describes the product direction rather than proving an improvement for every organization.
Access to working context
In a separate publication, Atlassian describes finding Jira work items, Confluence content and people through mentions in ChatGPT and Codex. It also describes a pinned Home with assigned work, documents and review requests. The company explicitly says access remains subject to Atlassian permissions and the organization's controls.
Our editorial perspective
The value of this kind of assistant depends on the quality and freshness of the context it receives. Incomplete project records can leave gaps behind a convincing summary. A meaningful evaluation asks whether the team can trace a recommendation to the actual tasks and decisions, rather than only whether the answer sounds polished.
