What OpenAI announced
On 7 October, OpenAI described flashcards and quizzes in ChatGPT for Teens and an upcoming College Planner. The planned organizer brings together application requirements, deadlines and tasks. Its initial audience is US students in grades 10–12 considering a four-year college. The announcement does not establish an availability date for Bulgaria.
The context: active learning
The original ChatGPT for Teens announcement, published on 18 August, describes Study Mode with guiding questions, responsible homework reminders and Study Hours. The latter lets teens or parents choose times when the learning mode is enabled by default. These are the company's descriptions of its product, rather than independent measurements of educational outcomes.
Our editorial perspective
Organizing deadlines and practicing through questions address different needs. It helps to distinguish support for preparation from decisions about one's own education. Specific university requirements should be checked with the institution, rather than accepted simply because they appear in a persuasive plan. The relevant question is how the tool supports understanding and preparation, with the student retaining ownership of the choices.
